Child's Diagnosis: Partial Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return (PAPVR)

Has Kerrington’s Heart impacted your journey? If so, how?:

Kerringtons heart was so nice and wonderful in helping ends meet while I had to be off for 6 weeks after his heart surgery, they helped pay rent and electric which was super helpful but they also gave a listening ear. They are an amazing organization all the way around and I will continue to support and donate to them to help other families that might need more then me and my family needed it.

What’s one thing you wish you’d been told at the beginning of your journey?:

At the beginning of my journey I wish I knew that I knew his heart was never going to be the same, it was never going to be perfect or “normal” it’s a mended heart, we have been grateful that his check ups have been wonderful news but there is still that scare that there will be something else wrong that they didn’t see the first time.

Please share a little bit about your story:

Charles is a twin and when he was born he was perfectly fine and healthy or so we thought anyways. It wasn’t until he was 6 months old at his well check that they noticed he had a slight heart murmur and his pediatrician sent us to UK to have it checked out, that’s when we realized he had a small whole on the left side of his heart and his left ventricle valve was stiff, fast forward to when he is 2 1/2 we are told he will have to have surgery bc the right side is enlarging and that’s a concern so when they get in there to fix his heart they notice that all four of his pulmonary veins are on the wrong side of his heart something they can’t really see well on an echo and fast-forward to now he is 7 almost 8 and is doing amazing I never knew he didn’t have much energy when he was little bc I thought he was chill kid man was I mistaken, he has so much more energy and is able to keep up with this siblings which is an amazing thing to see for sure. He had a check up with UK and everything has been really good his heart is doing what it should and everything.
