Lexington Students Help Fill Kerrington's Kloset

Kerrington’s Heart has always been dedicated to creating an experience that not only acknowledges but rewards pediatric heart patients for their courage and strength. In 2020, we are taking that to the next level with the creation of Kerrington’s Kloset, located in the Kentucky Pediatric Congenital Heart Clinic. Heart warriors will follow a path throughout the clinic that leads to a “Kloset” where they can choose a toy for their bravery. Thanks to generous donors and toy drives, there will be a wide range of toys for all ages and
interests.

Recently, Tracy Peddicord, a proud heart mom, organized a toy drive at Stonewall Elementary in Lexington, Kentucky to help fill our Kloset. Tracy's daughter, Emily, a student at Stonewall, is a heart warrior and the family was excited to see the incredible response to the drive.

Kerrington's Heart would like to thank all the students, parents, and faculty at Stonewall Elementary for their generous donations. The 200+ items received will be used to fill Kerrington’s Kloset at the Kentucky Pediatric
Congenital Heart Clinic or will be included in care packages which are sent to families experiencing long term hospital stays.

Has Kerrington’s Heart impacted your journey? If so, how?: Yes they sent us a special gift and information on CHD while we was in the hospital and we always know we have a family in the community we can talk to.

What’s one thing you wish you’d been told at the beginning of your journey?: CHD is 1 in 100 that makes your baby a hero and a warrior

What’s one word you would use to describe your journey and why?: Strengthening. Because our Journey has made me stronger, and brought me closer to God.

Please share a little bit about your story: Jase was not diagnosed with CHD until 12 hours after birth I was terrified because I had no idea what that meant. at 2 days old we was having our 1st open heart surgery at UK CHILDRENS HOSPITAL.
