Information on Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)and Congenital Heart Disease

In response to the Coronavirus and your child with heart disease, please make sure you are relying on the official Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website for accurate information. In the most recent link (3/8/2020) they provide precautionary measures that you can take, symptoms, and what to do if your child gets sick. The main take away is to remain calm but attentive! We, as parents, are not foreign to fear as we experience this on a daily basis with the flu, RSV, etc. We know as of now the flu is a far greater risk to our children.

For those that are around children with heart disease and their families, we ask that you be considerate of the health risk at this time. The obvious is to keep illnesses away but one great way to support them during this time would be to avoid bodily contact.....we love a smile and a wave.

During the month of February, Clay County Fitness Center Zumba raised $200.00 for Kerrington’s Heart through numerous Zumba events within the community. All of this was in honor of Connor Hoskins, an 8 year old boy who was diagnosed with congenital heart defects (CHD) at birth.

Connor Hoskins was born April 19, 2011. He was diagnosed at birth with ASD, VSD, DORV, TGA, Dextrocardia, Pulmonary Stenosis and Single Coronary Artery.  He had a PA Banding at 14 days old and a Rastelli procedure at 14 months  old. Connor and his family found out in January 2020 that his conduits are at 50+ % and needs to be replaced. He will have a repeated echocardiogram (ECHO) in July and Connors medical team will plan surgery pending the results of his ECHO. Connor is a 2nd grader at Burning Springs Elementary School. He loves spending his time with his sister Jacee and his cousins. He loves going to church, camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, playing his Xbox with his cousin Maddix and riding his dirt bike.
